In two days time, the world will be raising a toast to Arthur Guinness on the 250th birthday of the black stuff, and Paddy Power is betting at 12/1 that the 24th of September will become a public holiday in Ireland.
In a campaign to secure Arthurs day as a public holiday, there was over 6,000 people that put there names to the petition in just four days.
There will be over 60 artists performing all over Dublin in various venues, including a concert at St James’ Gate and other shows all over the world that will be beamed into the pubs that are participating in the celebrations.
With Dublin being the epicentre for the celebrations, Paddy Power is also betting on how many pints of Guinness will be sold in Dublin on Arthur’s Day, where 200,001 to 300,000 pints is the favourite at 5/2.
Guinness is also aiming to gather one million signatures throughout pubs and clubs all over Ireland, and they will donate €2.50 for every signature they get to the Arthur Guinness fund, and Paddy Power is betting at 1/2 that Guinness will reach this target.
Paddy Power said; ‘I know where I’ll be at 17.59 on Thursday evening, and I’ll be making my contribution to the total amount of pints of Guinness bought.
If the Irish know how to do one thing well, it’s partying, and no doubt it’ll be a great night in every pub all over the world celebrating our most famous export.’
Paddy Power is also betting at 5/2 for this Friday to get a higher level of sick notes than usual with Arthurs Day participants over indulging the night before.
The bookie is also betting on how many pubs will run out of drink on Thursday with between 10 to 20 pubs drying up, the 2/1 favourite, and the Guinness Storehouse Bar is 33/1 to run out of Guinness.
